Cohen's 1st Thanksgiving
Better late than never right? We had a great time at Grandma and Grandpa Dave's house. It was just me and the two kids. Grandpa Dave deep fried a turkey (Mom's favorite) and Grandma was sure to have the cranberry sauce on hand for Brody and I. After dinner Grandma watched the boys so I could run out and score a few deals at CVS and Walgreens. That is my version of black Friday shopping! During dinner I thought Cohen might want to join in on the festivities and food so I put a scoop of mashed potatoes on the tray of his swing. He suprisingly knew exactly what to do with them. Unfortunately after eating some his tummy decided it did not like them. A little after that was over with I gave him a small taste of the cranberry sauce. He did make the lemon face at first, but seemed to enjoy it after that. All in all it was a nice relaxing day spent with the ones we love!

Baby Adalyn has arrived
Today our friend Erin had baby Adalyn. We couldn't wait until tomorrow to see her like we had planned so Sabrina & Lily and both the boys and I headed up to the hospital to see her. What a precious sight she was. She weighed 8lbs 12oz which may seem like a lot to some, but those that know my babies as well as Erin's know that makes little Adalyn a light weight among the boys. Here are a few pictures of baby girl.

Brody had a great time taking pictures of Cohen and Lily while the Moms played with the baby. He was also a great help with entertaining and holding the kids. I think Erin might try to steal him next time he is around!
Of course all was going well until Cohen decided he know longer wanted the food he ate in his belly. Needless to say I am so happy my friends have kids otherwise I might have been embarrassed. So I had to strip little Cohen down to his diaper, but everyone was enjoying his rolls that we had to take a few pictures.

What are those...
Yesterday Cohen finally found his piggy's. It was so cute to see his excitement when he realized he had something to play with other than his hands.

Thanksgiving Eve
I was just checking posts on my Mommy board and there was one regarding what we are thankful for. As I read other's responses I of course started thinking of my own. Many times throughout this past year I have pondered why Clayton and I have the bad luck that we do. As the saying often goes, "if it weren't for bad luck we would have no luck at all." When I really stop to think about it maybe it isn't that bad. We both have kept our jobs through the terrible times our economy has recently encountered. We have a home that most of the time when it isn't falling apart we actually love. But most of all we have our wonderful family. Our kids are healthy and happy. What more could we really ask for? Maybe nothing. Maybe we need to focus not on what we don't have, but that which we do. A very wise woman once told me, "our gifts are in heaven." That has gotten me past the times where all I can seem to dwell on is the things we don't get. So let us come together tomorrow to have wonderful food, great conversation and to be thankful for all that we have and not all that we want. Sometimes I find that all I need to do is look right in front of me for the things that make be the happiest.

Cohen's 4 Month Checkup
We had our check-up today and here are the numbers
17.14 lbs (80th perc)
17 3/4 in head (98th perc)
26 in length (66th)
The Dr. said she had cause to worry about the size of his head and to rule out any problems such as fluid on the brain she wants to send him for a scan. She said the likelihood of there being any problem is very small, but she would rather know for sure. We are scheduled for December 1st. The only part I am not too excited about is that he has to be sedated for the procedure. I am sure everything is fine, but as a Mom you still carry some doubt in the back of your mind.
Other than that news everything else was great. He had 4 shots and took them like a champ! I picked him up from daycare today and he had only taken a 1 hour nap. I expected to be met by a grumpy baby, but there he say in the swing happy as could be. The girls said he was a joy to be around today.
Here is the little cutie for his monthly picture this morning.

The 1st Snow
Cohen experienced his 1st snow today and by "experience" I mean it snowed while Cohen sat inside where it was warm and did a photo shoot with Mom. Brody did get out for a few hours and seemed to really enjoy himself. He caught snowflakes on his tongue while the dogs ate the snow off his shovel. He was even sweet enough to brush off Dad's car. By the end of the day most of the snow had melted, but no worries I am sure there will be more to come. Here are a few pics for you to enjoy.

Sleepy baby
I have so many pictures of Cohen sleeping that I thought I would just post them for the fun of it. I could mention too that my good sleeper has disappeared for the last few days. I don't know if his normal schedule was off, maybe teething or just another growth spurt, but he went from sleeping through the night to not wanting to go to sleep and then waking every hour. Even cheating and trying to sleep with him on the couch didn't work. He still woke up. Needless to say I hope he goes back to the old way soon or I am going to be one tired and cranky Mommy!Halloween 08

This year Cohen was a monkey. It was the most fitting costume for the boy with toes that are ready to climb trees. Brody was going to be a football player. For reasons I won't go into on here Brody did not end up trick-or-treating. After work that day I picked up the boys and we headed to Grandma Sondra's house. She had the house to herself as Grandpa Dave was in South Dakota with his family. Grandma had made some yummy snacks for us and the neighbors even brought over a tray of spooky halloween treats. We did hand out candy, but we only got 10 or 15 people by the house. I ended up falling alseep on Grandma's couch at 8:30 while Brody watched a movie. Overall it was a nice quiet evening. Here are some pics of Cohen in his costume. He would only put up with it for a few minutes, but atleast we got a few good shots.

Basketball season is upon us
Brody started his basketball season a few weeks ago. He has practice one a week and a game every Saturday morning. Last week his team won 44 to 2! It was a great game. I am always amazed each year at the progress from the year before. This weekend they one 22 to 18. It was such a close game up until the end. Brody has really shown this year that his defensive skills are A+. I can't wait for the days where he plays one or two positions consistently. Right now the kids basically get out there and just go for it. As long as he is having fun then we know we are on the right track. Here are a couple of pictures from last weekend. Unfortunately they are not the best :(
