Walk but not crawl???

Cohen has shown very few signs of wanting to crawl. Of course with the skill of skadoodling why crawl! On the other hand he is starting to work toward walking. He is able to pull himself up on the tv stand. Unfortunately that means he either watches tv 2 inches from the screen or tries his best to put his hands all over the tv which does not make Mommy and Daddy very happy.
Last night he was having a great time. Dancing away!

Disco? Maybe he is an old soul...

Out with formula in with milk

Last weekend it was decided that we would make the transition to milk. It was a little early if we were going by the normal date of his 1 year birthday, but he was not taking much formula in and wanting more "real food."

I first tried to give milk in a sippy and eliminate the bottle at the same time. That did not go over so well. On Saturday evening after him not taking much of anything in liquid wise Clayton and I made the executive decision to serve milk in a bottle. We will tackle that battle later.

It definately took a few "rough" days to make the full transition, but after 4 or 5 days we were right where we needed to be. He does great with the milk as long as you warm it up enough to take the chill off. Hopefully as we move further along that will change as well.

This is Cohen's way of saying he is done. It typically consists of a bottle being launched into the air or onto the floor!

Our Little Fishes

Yesterday I took the boys over to my friend Jen's apartment so they could go swimming. This was Cohen's first time in a pool. The water was a tid bit cold and maybe that is what put Cohen off in the beginning, but after a few minutes of floating around he really started to enjoy himself. Just like Brody I think he would have stayed in there all day long had we let him. He really enjoyed putting his face onto his floaty thing and trying to drink the water.

All over the place

Now that Cohen is bigger and more mobile it is always a suprise when I wake him in the morning as to what position he will be sleeping in that day. This one is by far my favorite. With that little tush in the air who wouldn't want to sqeeze him.

Vroom Vroom

Now that Cohen is more confident with his legs we got out a toy that he could "ride" around on. That really consists of Mom pushing him around the house, but he thinks it is a ton of fun. His favorite is when I make car sounds (vroom vroom) and beep beep, but he loves it most when I crash him into things and make crash sounds.

He decided to move his legs around to this position and sat this way for more than 5 minutes.
He also likes to put both his legs up when I push him around. He makes the vroom vroom sound now whenever he is on this or plays with train and car toys.

4th of July

As we have for the last few years we joined together with the Garcia family to celebrate the 4th of July. We met at their house in the morning and walked to Wilson Ave to watch the parade. It was a great time except for the loud flying jets in the beginning. Cohen was not too fond of the noise. Other than that there was plenty to entertain the kids. Brody and Eli sat on the curb and collected way too much candy for two kids. Jenny, Clayton, Aliyah, Cohen and myself stood further back and danced to the music and clapped for everyone.

After the parade we went back to the house to eat lunch and relax for a few hours before Delmer got home from work. The rest of the day consisted of food, drinks and great time with friends.

Once it was dark we headed down the street a few blocks to watch the fireworks. Outside of the millions of mosquitoes we had to swat at everyone had a great time. All of the kids were wide awake and no one was too scared of the noises. Another successful 4th.

Soooo Big

Cohen wearing shoes for the first time. I am not sure why it got to me so much, but I assume it puts into perspective how much he has grown over the last year.

Bath vs Shower

Brody said he was jealous the other day of not being able to take baths anymore so after he and I played with Cohen for a few he took a nice relaxing bath. I was able to catch him in the towels when he was done and snap a pic to show his future girlfriends. :)

Cohen on the other hand gets his baths and apparently was bored with them and has started eating the bubbles. I have been assured by many that it will not hurt him so of course I must take pictures while he does it.

11 Months

Ok...so I am a little behind on the monthly postings, but bare with me there is only one more month left.

Cohen is now able to:

-go from his butt to belly and then belly to butt. he will get onto his knees like he is going to crawl, but instead use his hands to push back until he is on his butt again
-when on his knees in the crawling position he no longer frogs out, but has not started rocking yet
-he has 3 teeth (2 bottom 1 top) and is about to have 2 more top teeth come through
-he loves to fake cough for attention
-when you say something he doesn't like he will squish up his face (like he smelled something bad) and blow air out of his nose like a bull
-stranger anxiety is not so bad yet, but his connection to certain people is. at daycare there are certain people Cohen will cry for if they don't pay him attention or when they leave the room

P.S. as I am sure you can see in the picture getting the monthly sign in the photo but not destroyed is really getting tough as of late.

Love You Bubba <3

Can't you just see the love? Melts my heart everytime I see the way Cohen looks at Brody. Now that Cohen is associating names and trying to say words we have dubbed Brody to be Bubba. This shouln't be too hard for Cohen to pick up on and eventually repeat right? Well...it happened quicker than we could have imagined.

Last weekend Brody had a friend over. Cohen was a little hurt when the boys went downstairs to play. Especially because he could scadoodle over to the baby gate to watch and listen to Brody with his friend. I went to grab the camera to take a few pictures and next thing I know Brody is at the gate and Cohen is Bubba Bubba Bubba. It was so darn cute.
