Where oh where has the time gone?

Cohen recently celebrated his 6 month birthday! I can't believe he is half way to a year. Then again Brody is almost half way to being a legal adult. We were not able to get a picture of Cohen for his mini birthday until today. As some of you know he has been sick for just about a week now. Runny nose, coughing you know the drill. Today he went in for his 6 month check up and as I had recently suspected he has two ear infections. Poor little guy :( That does explain why we and by that I mean Cohen and I haven't slept now for about a week. I tell you what. The first time he sleeps the whole night through again I won't know what to do with myself. So hopefully we are on our way back to healthy Cohen which I am sure will be just in time to start teething Cohen. Wish us luck ;)

Here is his monthy photo. I have to put two of them because the first was what he tried to do with the paper while I was taking a picture and the second is what the paper and he looked like once I finally got them seperated. I feel these pictures dictate oh so well what life has been like in the Smith house for the last week.

Now for the numbers:

18 in head - 90th percentile

27 1/4 length - 69th percentile

21 lbs 10oz - 91st percentile

Needless to say I don't think he is having any problems growing.

Playtime

This afternoon we had Stacy and Aidan over for an inpromtou playdate. We snapped a few pictures had a few laughs and then it was time for naps.
Aidan is such a rock star. Here you will see he is tuning his guitar before the gig starts!
As usual Cohen making his grumpy face when I am trying to take pics.
Dude I can't believe you are touching me again! - Aidan
What? Is there something on my head?
This playdate is driving me crazy!!!!
See they really do like each other

Does it get any cuter than this?

Big Boy

Last night we had Cohen laying on his new baby bean bag chair. He apparently thought it was meant for Kung Fu fighting!

We dressed Cohen in his new pair of jeans today. You won't believe what size they are....18-24 month from Old Navy. I know their sizes tend to run small, but that small??? I just had to get a picture because he looked so old.

Shout Outs

I think the best Thank You card is a picture of little Cohen wearing/using his new gifts. So please enjoy and thank you all for your generosity.

Best Christmas Gift Ever!

Our lovely friends at the daycare center (Erica & Natalie) decided for Christmas gifts to the parents that would have a photo shoot with each child. They decided to borrow my idea of the Christmas lights. Seeing as I had done those with Cohen already they were nice enough to find another great idea for our pictures. Behold the cutest photo session ever done with a baby! Thanks again girls for a priceless gift. I am sure Cohen will really appreciate these when I pull them out to share with his first girlfriend. Let us also hope he never decides to get into politics or these could cause some questions.

Big Boy Bathtime

Tonight was Cohen's first experience taking a bath like a big boy! He really enjoyed splashing around in the water and making sure to get everything within 5 feet soaking wet. Including Mom! Our next step is to purhase a bath he can sit up in while getting bathed in our big tub. No more soaking wet Mom and kitchen.

Brotherly Love

It seems like Cohen missed Brody a ton while he was gone to Ohio over Christmas break. Ever since he has gotten home Cohen seems to love watching everything Brody does. We told Brody that his little brother would look to him for guidance and I think it has finally come true. It makes Brody feel great!

Tonight we had some music on and Cohen was watching Brody dance and having the greatest time. Everytime Brody would dance Cohen would stare at him, smile and even tried to dance himself.

Bathtime Cutie

No real point to this post other then to share another cute picture of baby Cohen!

Peek A Boo

Cohen learned to play peek a boo today and it was so cute watching him play and laugh.
And as a bonus pic...one of Brody's friends at school made this hat for Cohen. It almost fits!

Monday night out with the ladies

Last night the boys and I met up with some girls from my Mommy Board for a "Moms Night Out." It was so nice of them to allow me to bring the boys. Here are a few pics our friend Erin took with her awesome new camera.

Cohen looks like he is preparing to spray everyone down with formula or something
What a devilish little look
I think this picture helped me to realize how much the boys really do look alike
Cohen check out his girlfriend Lily

Solids here we come...again

After a recent visit to the Dr. for a check-up on his reflux it was decided we would go ahead and start Cohen on solids. He is just past 5 months and weighing in at 21lbs 5 oz. that makes him in the 97th percentile. Today he had cereal for breakfast and dinner and ate ALL of it. He was opening his mouth in anticipation of the spoon. We are hoping by the end of the week to start green veggies. Can't wait to see the faces he makes. I can't tell we are going through one of his standard growth spurts / schedule changes. Over the last few days he has not finished his normal 8 oz. bottles and that was before he started solids. Not sure if we need to up the amount of time in between feedings or if he has reached is max capacity and has decided not to eat so much. Only time will tell.

P.S. he is officially sitting up on his own! Not to say he doesn't topple over every now and again, but he is generally doing a great job staying up. Now we face the problem of his anger when he can't reach his toys.

Sittin Up

Cohen has recently been working on sitting up on his own. He has made such progress in the last week. Today we let him play on the floor in his room while Mommy took some pictures. We have found that he gets so excited over toys now that he can grab for them and he especially loves the view better than lying down. He is pretty good at leaning foward and pushing back up. He just has to learn how to lean side to side and back without falling over.

Catch Up Time

Because of the holidays I don't feel like I have been updating as much on the little things so I can going to bundle them all into one post for you.

Cohen on New Years Eve. Luckily he didn't try and stay up to see the first ever ball drop in Grand Rapids.
Recently Cohen has started actually jumping in his Johnny Jump Up. The look on his face when he realized her could bounce in it was priceless.

Here is Cohen sitting in his new highchair that Grandma Blume got him for Christmas. He loves it!

Cohen sporting what I like to call his "old man leisure suit." He even has the grouchy look on his face.
